General
While there are plenty of stage pianos out there to choose from, not many are as fully-fledged and portable as the Studiologic Numa Compact X SE. This stage piano weighs just seven kilos yet comes loaded with four sound engines and built-in speakers. Compared to the non-X edition, this model even piles on drawbars.
The Studiologic Numa Compact X SE: Light Playing Feel
The Numa Compact X SE has been outfitted with semi-weighted keys that, while they don't have the authentic piano feel of hammer-action keys, do feel nice-and-light and are backed up by aftertouch, allowing you to control things that are normally controlled by a fader or encoder. This way, you won't have to lift your fingers from the keys.
The Sound
The sound generation is taken care of by four engines, giving you your bread-and-butter acoustic piano sounds, a range of e-piano sounds (think DX pianos and tine-based pianos like the Rhodes), organ sounds courtesy of a tonewheel organ simulator complete with rotary, chorus and vibratos and, last but not least, a synthesizer engine. In short, everything you need as a gigging keyboardist!
