Description:
The fifth in the Matador reissue series Revisionist History! The 20th anniversary edition of Mary Timoney's first album at the intersection of DC hardcore, Chicago acoustic and shellac! Mary Timoney's debut solo album, originally released in 2000, is now being reissued to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the release of her first solo album! Originally released in 2000, this album is a "journey into the new underground," as Mary herself describes it, with the dry drum and guitar work intact, but with the addition of piano, harpsichord, viola, and vibraphone, and a punk nihilism and a vast, surreal examination of the world that is unique in her discography. This is the most singular and most musical work in her discography. Guest musicians on the recording include Helium guitarist and ally Ash Bowie and John McEntire of Tortoise. The reissue features the latest remastering by Bob Weston (Shellac), who was also the mixing engineer at the time, and includes previously unreleased original takes of "Return to Pirates," "Poison Moon," and "Killed by the Telephone," as well as the original mix of "Valley of One Thousand Perfumes," produced by Joe Wong and mixed by Dave Fridman. The album also features a newly recorded orchestral version of "Valley of One Thousand Perfumes," produced by renowned Russian Doll and Midnight Gospel composer Joe Wong and mixed by Dave Fridman, as well as a gold foil embossed gatefold release. The album will be released in a gold foil embossed gatefold format.
