Flag of Lot France The Flag of Lot is a symbol of administrative autonomy for the department of Lot in southwestern France. Adopted in 2003, it represents the region's cultural and historical identity. Consisting of three horizontal stripes, the flag reflects the French tricolor (blue, white, and red), but with unique modifications. The blue stripe at the top is narrower than the others and features a golden sun with eight rays, symbolizing the sun god Apollo, patron deity of Cahors, the department's prefecture. The middle white stripe represents the Midi-Pyrnes region, from which Lot was previously administratively part of. The lower red stripe, on the other hand, symbolizes the blood shed in the name of freedom during the French Revolution. The Flag of Lot is a testament to the department's rich heritage and its continued commitment to preserving its unique cultural identity within the larger framework of France.
