The Flag of Kagoshima is the official symbol representing the Japanese prefecture of Kagoshima. Adopted on April 1, 1948, it consists of a white field with an asymmetrical red canton (upper corner) extending to the hoist side and forming approximately one-third of the flag's height. The canton features three black five-pointed stars, representing Satsuma Province (present-day Kagoshima Prefecture), Tanegashima Island, and Sakurajima Volcano. The remaining two-thirds of the flag is a solid white field, symbolizing peace and purity. The design reflects the historic importance of these elements to the region's identity and history.
